A brief description of how sustainability is included in new employee orientation:

UTRGV’s employee orientation works toward the sustainable development goal of responsible communities and strong institutions by covering multiple dimensions of sustainability in new employee orientation. On their first day, UTRGV employees attend a New Employee Orientation (NEO) session. They are introduced to the university’s culture, mission, priorities and institutional values. Session offers valuable information on employee benefits and resources to empower new hires and successfully transition into your new role. Sustainability is addressed among the cultural elements making up UTRGV's mission and the Office for Sustainability is introduced in a powerpoint presentation. The contact information of the OFS is provided as a resource. Sustainability components are also addressed through a number of compulsory online blackboard (educational training tool) modules designed for new employees. Throughout these modules some of the goals aligning with sustainability include:

Module 1

Goal 16 - Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels.

Module 3

Goal 3 - Ensure healthy lives and promote well being for all at all ages.

Goal 5 - Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.

Goal 8 - Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all.
