Seneca incorporates into its RFP's to reduce waste. It dictates that contractors are responsible for the removal and diversion of construction and demolition (C&D) materials from landfill. Recent construction projects across all Seneca campuses are designed to meet LEED Gold green building standards, and as such aim to achieve high levels of C&D waste diversion; Magna Hall at King Campus, and the CITE Building at Newnham Campus both achieved LEED Gold certification.

Seneca's Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste comes from a number of sources, most notably new building construction and demolition, minor, and major renovations; most C&D data reported in this submission is from new building contruction and demolition, with a small portion coming from minor renovations. The data is compiled from information provided to CD Sonter to include in their Waste Audit Report for the 2017-2018 performance period.
