The Provost's Steering Committee on Diversity sponsors a variety of activities and events designed to increase internal capacity to serve as effective stewards for diversity at Brandeis.
Following is the diversity statement of Brandeis University, adopted March 15, 2006.
Established in 1948 as a model of ethnic and religious pluralism, Brandeis University:

The Intercultural Center (ICC) serves as an umbrella organization for eighteen student organizations. Providing a venue where students can learn and demonstrate social responsibility and diverse leadership; the organizations provide events that focus on issues of culture, ethnicity and social justice.

This position is supervised by Jamele Adams, Associate Dean of Student Life. With other staff in Intercultural Center, the Director of the ICC develops and implements co-curricular programs that:

Connect to the curriculum.
Encourage collaborative opportunities.
Present opportunities for collective discussion.
Provide opportunities for student leadership development.
Serve as an advocate and support network.
Create an environment of welcome, care, inclusion and support.
Value the existence of multiple views, voices, beliefs, interests and experiences.
Establish relationships with students, faculty, staff and the greater community.
Assist in the recruitment and retention of students.
