A brief description of the socially responsible investment option for retirement plans:
SJSU offers pre-tax retirement investement options through TIAA-CREF. The investment choices include a CREF Social Choice account which gives special consideration to certain social criteria when chosing investments and only invests in companies that meet the screening criteria. Companies considered are those who: are stewards of the environment, devoted to serving local communities and society in general, committed to high labor standards, dedicated to producing high-quality, safe products, and those managed in an ethical manner.
