Has the institution conducted a survey or other evaluation that allows for anonymous feedback to measure employee satisfaction and engagement during the previous three years?:
Yes

Percentage of employees (staff and faculty) assessed, directly or by representative sample (0-100):
66

A brief description of the institution’s methodology for evaluating employee satisfaction and engagement:

NMSU periodically evaluates employee satisfaction to improve programs that have the greatest impact on all employees. As an institute of higher learning, nearly all of the colleges of the university have applied for accreditation. These colleges conducted employee surveys as part of this process. Modifications were made to procedures and several additional benefits were implemented by the University in response to the survey.

Environmental studies were administered to gauge employee satisfaction and surface problems that may need to be addressed in the strategic planning. These studies consisted of group meetings conducted by a third party organization. Feedback was given by employees and reported anonymously to management. All employees were encouraged to participate.

The latest survey was conducted in 2014. All employees were given an email with a link to the survey. Institutional Research compiled the results of the survey.

Specifically, the survey is an employee engagement tool which is:

- Used to measure employee perceptions of the total work environment and employees’ satisfaction
- Focuses on fully utilizing an organization’s human resources to build viable institutions
- Provides information about work force issues that impact the quality of service ultimately delivered to all customers
- Allows for better understanding of employee satisfaction which is vital to attracting and retaining a competitive workforce

A brief description of the mechanism(s) by which the institution addresses issues raised by the evaluation (including examples from the previous three years):

During a public forum as well as live sessions with the university president and provost, results of the survey were discussed as well as how the upper administration will deal with the issues brought up in the survey.

A public forum was held to discuss the results of the survey. Invitation from the president here: http://president.nmsu.edu/files/2013/07/Employee-Satisfaction-Survey-Open-Forum-021715.pdf
