The Office of Sustainability has produced several case-studies on LED lights, bottled water reduction, and copy paper and printer initiatives to reduce waste. American U staff and students also led or participated in four presentations and a poster session at the 2010 AASHE conference.

A brief summary of additional ways the institution collaborates with other campuses to advance sustainability :

American collaborates with regional campus partners on sustainability through a group called "Metro DC Sustainability" that includes representatives from Georgetown, George Washington, University of the District of Columbia, George Mason, and Johns Hopkins, among others. AU hosted a day-long workshop with this group in December 2010 focused on stormwater management techniques for campuses in the Washington D.C. metro area.
