Does the institution have a bicycle-sharing program or participate in a local bicycle-sharing program?:
No

A brief description of the bicycle sharing program:
---

Does the institution participate in a car sharing program?:
No

A brief description of the car sharing program:
Fleet Services have 26 vehicles that are leased from the Department of Administration. 22 are used as rentals for employees and students to travel for University or State business. 4 are used by University departments on campus. The University also owns 55 cars, trucks, vans, and buses that are used by departments such as the Fleet, CNR, Facility Services, Treehaven, Residential Living, The Centers, Dining, Theatre, Schmeeckle, Parking, and IT. They are used for student transport, recycling, plowing snow, special events, etc. In addition, there are several licensed slow-moving shuttles and electric vehicles that can be used on campus and in the surrounding neighborhoods.

Does the institution offer preferential parking or other incentives for fuel efficient vehicles?:
Yes

A brief description of the incentives for fuel efficient vehicles:
As of 2023 the university has two EV charging stations (4 ports total) in Lot T and Lot Y. By utilizing these charging stations, students, staff and community members have closer access to multiple academic buildings. That said, these chargers do cost per hour of usage so they are not free. There is a green fund proposal in place that will install an additional charging station in 2024.

Additionally, motorcycles and mopeds have cheaper parking permits compared to full-sized car parking permits. Encouraging students and staff to use these fuel efficient alternatives.

Does the institution have one or more Level 2 or Level 3 electric vehicle recharging stations that are accessible to student and employee commuters?:
Yes

A brief description of the electric vehicle recharging stations:
UWSP has two 7.2 kW Level 2 EV stations, one located in parking lot T and one in parking lot Y. The university also has an EV station located in the parking lot of Schmeeckle Reserve.

Does the institution have incentives or programs to encourage employees to live close to campus?:
Yes

A brief description of the incentives or programs to encourage employees to live close to campus:
There are benefits for those that live close enough to campus and can ride their bike to and from campus. One benefit is having acquired a Bike Benefits sticker from the Office of Sustainability. Those that ride their bike and show their sticker to many of the available UWSP dining services can acquire a 5% discount on their meal. At our CPS Cafe, riders can get a 50% discount on a second cookie after buying their first.
Additionally, public transit is free with a student ID. As long as students can get to and from bus stops, they can travel across Stevens Point and UWSP for free.

Does the institution have other programs or initiatives to encourage more sustainable modes of transportation and/or reduce the impact of student and employee commuting?:
Yes

A brief description of other programs or initiatives to encourage more sustainable modes of transportation and/or reduce the impact of student and employee commuting:
All UWSP students can ride the Stevens Point city buses for free with a valid UWSP student ID. Each bus is equipped with a bike rack.

The UW-Stevens Point Comprehensive Campus Bike and Pedestrian Master Plan was adopted in the spring of 2019 furthering our campuses efforts towards sustainability. The plan outlines the existing resources available to bicyclists and pedestrians and provides a tiered plan for implementing new initiatives to improve the resources available to users of the UWSP campus. The plan was written by the Campus Bicycle and Pedestrian Planning Task Force who was formed in 2016 to forge the future of UWSP by conducting research and evaluating our campus to provide improvements for the future. UWSP is in the beginning stages of implementing these new recommendations and will continue to do so into the future.

UWSP is a 2023 Silver level Bike Friendly University, as certified by the League of American Bicyclists.
