A brief description of how the literacy assessment was developed and/or when it was adopted:
We reviewed sample literacy assessments posted in AASHE resources and wrote our own assessment so it was relevant to our university and state issues. We included both fact-based questions and value-based questions.

Upon completion of the survey the plan the data was summarized in a executive summary style and disseminated to faculty/staff so they could view the impact of their curriculum and potentially make adjustments.

A brief description of how a representative sample was reached (if applicable) and how the assessment(s) were administered :
All current students were sent the assessments via email, Social Media and the University's Message of the Day Service and were asked to complete the survey within a two week period.

A brief summary of results from the literacy assessment(s):
2014: 1000 responses of 9~000 students - 1 month time period
2024: 275 responses of ~8000 students - two week time period - Showed a sense of general knowledge of global environmental issues but showed a lack of connection to social issues (Food access, SDGs, affected populations) Furthermore, it appears we may need to bolster our presence through social media as many did not know about about the Office of Sustainability.

With an acceptable ~10% margin of error, we believe that a minimum of respondents for this type of survey is 100, based off of a maximum of 10,000 (Over 2000 more students than what is currently enrolled).

We are most interested in responses that rate global sustainability concerns, that rank campus sustainability issues, and responses to sustainable transportation questions.
Additionally, we hope to use this survey as an opportunity to share some of the UWSP sustaianbility related resources (Social Media, Office location, Offerings).
