Office of Global Sustainability website - coordinates and builds partnerships for university-wide initiatives that advance the University of South Florida's strategic goal of creating a sustainable campus environment.
To accomplish this mission, we actively support faculty, staff, students, alumni, and neighborhood partners in their efforts to transform the University of South Florida into a 'Green University', where decisions —structural and routine—consider both individual and collective impacts to our campus, community, economy, and environment. As citizen-scholar activists, we share a sustainability ethic that promotes conserving resources, reducing waste, recycling, reusing materials, finding new sources of clean energy, increasing energy efficiency, and diminishing life-cycle impacts and our consumption of greenhouse gas producing materials. We engage in this ethic of stewardship to guide the development and implementation of programs, policies, and other courses of action in the operation and management of the University of South Florida system as well as its institutional teaching, research, and service commitments.

1) The Patel College of Global Sustainability website features a page where recent news related to sustainability are published.
2) The Patel College of Global Sustainability disseminates a monthly electronic newsletter nationally and internationally.
3) The Office of Sustainability maintains an active listserv for the campus and community, as well as active Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and iTunes sites/pages/channels.

The Patel College of Global Sustainability maintains an active social media presence. Our Social Media promotes our College’s sustainability events and also promotes our community partners’ sustainability news.
The Patel College of Global Sustainability (PCGS) fosters sustainable urban communities and environments through collaborative research, education and community involvement. Its research generates innovations and new knowledge that will help cities around the world, including those in developing countries, to reduce their ecological footprint, while improving their form and function to make them healthier, more livable and resilient.
Through its research, PCGS influences global practice and policy and has become the hub of a global network of sustainability experts.

Signage for all new features funded by the Student Green Energy Fund are implemented campus wide. All LEED accredited buildings on campus maintain ample signage to highlight green building features. LEED building information can be accessed on the Facilities Management Website

USF is the first university in the South East Region to implement Peace of Mind, a vegan/vegetarian sauté station in our Residential Program. Vegan lunch and dinner offerings available at all three Residential Dining Halls every day each of these include special signage materials with nutritional data.
USF Dining participates in sustainable events across campus along with campus partners monthly. Some events include: Earthweek, RecycleMania, RecycleFest, and Meatout Day with SPEAK Student Organization and National World Water Day.
Flyers and brochures for special events are regularly printed and distributed.

Tree dedication signage - reduce the heat island effect, provides shaded walkways to encourage pedestrian rather than vehicular traffic. Signage at the Collins fountain provides information on the use of captured condensate to provide water for the fountain. MSC Bull fountain uses condensate as well, however, no signage to communicate the potable water savings strategy.

1) A Tour of Campus - Student-led by our Green & Gold Guides, the tour will give you an up-close view of our top-rated academic facilities, a spacious suite-style residence hall, delicious dining options, student support offices, high-tech recreation center, and other points of interest including the sustainability features of the campus. In addition, you will hear from current USF students about what life is really like on our dynamic campus!
2) Students from the Green LLC are given a green tour of campus during new student orientation. The guide, a faculty member, speaks about the development of sustainability initiatives on campus, shows examples of sustainability related projects, and has students visit the Patel College of Sustainability, the Center for Urban Transportation, and the Botanical Gardens. Overall the tour takes about 1.5 hours.

2) The Center for Urban Transportation Research (CUTR), established in 1988, has become recognized nationally and serves as an important resource for policymakers, transportation professionals, the education system, and the public. With emphasis on developing innovative, implementable solutions to transportation problems, CUTR provides high quality, objective transportation expertise in the form of technical support, policy analysis, and research support that translates directly into benefits for its project sponsors. 3) The New North Transportation Alliance (NNTA), is a public-private partnership in Northeast Tampa that provides a forum for businesses, local governments, residents, and commuters to address the transportation needs of the area. Its purpose is to improve and expand transportation options for all travelers in the New North area. 4) Parking and Transportation Services produces a handout outlining the CarPool Program policy and goals, which center around the need to reduce traffic congestion and improve air quality in and around the campus.

1) The USF Maps App (originally known as MoBullity) helps USF students, staff, and visitors get around the USF Tampa campus using various transportation options (walk, bike, USF Bull Runner shuttle, USF Share-A-Bull bikeshare, Hillsborough Area Regional Transit (HART), Enterprise CarShare). USF Maps App offers the following features: Multi-modal trip planning based on real-time transit and bikeshare information. Options to avoid stairs and prefer bike lanes. Real-time bus locations on map. Real-time bikeshare locations on map. USF Bike lanes on map.
This application is based on the open-source OpenTripPlanner project. It uses data from OpenStreetMap.org for walking, bike, and road data. Funding assistance was provided by the USF Student Green Energy Fund, USF Center for Urban Transportation Research, and Florida Department of Transportation.

The Green Living Learning Community (Green LLC) is a vibrant, dynamic student community focused on living an actively sustainable lifestyle. Community members lead the way by advocating the positive effects of being socially responsible and actively engaged in the community. While creating an atmosphere of awareness for their peers, students in this community have the opportunity to make a difference by pursuing their own initiatives and working with faculty and administrators on a variety of campus green projects. Located in Maple Hall, the community is open to both first-year and returning students from all majors. Past activities have included helping host an annual Swap Shop, creating hydroponic gardens in the hall, planting a butterfly garden, composting, engaging with a film series, mixing organic products (e.g. hair gel, cleaning products, etc.), and visiting green sites, like a hydroponic farm.
