NAIT is mandated by the Government of Alberta that all publicly-funded new buildings are to be designed and constructed to a minimum of LEED Silver standard. NAIT currently does not have any formal sustainable design and construction standards but encourages such on major renovation projects. When sustainable building measures are undertaken by the design and construction team, a record of such has been maintained. Typical procedures include energy conservation measures, waste material recycling, and the specification of environmentally safe materials. We try to design our projects to be as sustainable as possible (LEED shadow).
