NAIT’s objective is to maximize water efficiency within all campus buildings to reduce consumption and the burden on municipal water supply and waste water systems. Water consumption is monitored to track usage and investigate facilities with abnormally high water consumption.

Area of vegetated grounds was estimated by tracing all vegetated areas at NAIT's main campus, Souch campus, Patricia campus, St. Albert campus, and Distribution Centre on Google Earth to get approximate areas. Even though leased sites are within the institutional boundary established for the report, vegetated grounds at these sites were omitted from this figure as the grounds are not managed by NAIT. It was also inferred that area of vegetated grounds in 07/08 was approximately the same as in 13/14.
