Loyola has a deep commitment to issues of equity, inclusion, and social justice. Expressing that commitment in words is important, but even more important is how those words match the actions and the work we are doing as a community.
In planning for concrete action steps, the office of equity and inclusion approaches these issues with an integrative model of leadership, which draws its strength from partnerships and collaborations extending to every division of our university. The work of diversity, equity, and inclusion doesn’t sit in any specific office at Loyola. This is the work of all of us.

During the 2022-2023 academic year, 84% of first year undergraduate and graduate student completed their online training. The university also incorporate racial justice and anti-racism initiatives into Messina, Loyola’s first-year seminar program designed to instill the intellectual curiosity and self-knowledge necessary for a student’s successful start to their Loyola education. Lastly, campus partners, such as The Office of Equity and Inclusion, ALANA Services, Campus Ministry, the Center for Community, Service, and Justice (CCSJ), and The Karson Institute for Race, Peace, and Social Justice provide learning opportunities and a variety of student focused trainings and activities geared towards anti-racism, racial justice, cultural awareness, interfaith dialogue, and power and privilege.
All new and current employees must complete an annual online diversity training course titled Diversity: Inclusion in the Modern Workplace. All staff and administrators must also participate in a cohort of Loyola’s Mission Driven Leadership (LMDL) Program, interactive workshops that develop employee knowledge of the Jesuit history and Loyola’s mission, vision, and values. Part of the LMDL program includes a session titled, Equity and Inclusion in the Workplace.
