Does the institution have an ongoing program that offers incentives for academic staff in multiple disciplines or departments to develop new sustainability courses and/or incorporate sustainability into existing courses? :
A brief description of the incentive program(s):
The Evergreen State College holds an annual Summer Institute through the Washington Center for Improving Undergraduate Education. The most recent (2022) Summer Institute offered sessions on developing equity, mental well-being, student inclusion, support for students with disabilities, social justice, equity, and climate change awareness (see attached document for names and descriptions of all offered sessions).
As of June 2023, the 2023 Summer Institute has been cancelled for unspecified reasons. The Washington Center has however expressed the intent to continue the Summer Institute in future years. All supplemental data for this credit is therefore taken from the most recent 2022 Summer Institute.
A brief description of the incentives that academic staff who participate in the program(s) receive:

"Faculty participation in Summer Institutes is compensated in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, Section 17.2.2 (quoted below). The number of compensation days for each institute is listed below. Faculty are invited to attend multiple institutes, however, compensation is capped at 8 days ($1,000 per individual). This cap does not apply to compensation for conveners or other summer work such as Curriculum/Path Planning Retreats & Special Projects.
"17.2.2 Compensation. Faculty participants will be paid a daily stipend of $125 and conveners will be paid a daily stipend of $250 for participating in summer institutes."
