UW-Whitewater has two sustainability Web sites. There is an overall campus sustainability site that provides information about the campus-wide sustainability efforts and information. The Sustainability Office issues a monthly newsletter that includes a featured story on a campus sustainability issue, a eco-friendly product or service of interest to students, upcoming events, volunteer opportunities, partnership spotlights, and more. The newsletter goes out to around 1100 individual emails that are collected through various outreach events.

UW-Whitewater has several social media platforms dedicated to sustainability efforts. They include Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and blogs. Efforts to utilize and integrate more recent or trendy social media platforms are always being considered and actively experimented with through the peer to peer educational program called UW-Whitewater Earth Initiative.

There is signage highlighting green building features in many of our buildings, including a full LEED display with pictures, a signboard, and the plaque in our LEED certified building, Starin Hall, as well as monitors showing the output from our Solar Panels on Hyland Hall. The value of this program is important to our goal of creating a living, learning laboratory on our campus and plans are being formulated to expand these efforts to food service areas and campus grounds in a more significant way.

Signage is incorporated in dining facilities to promote use of reusable takeout containers, called Eco-Clamshells. Vegan and vegetarian options are also promoted at dining hall service locations. Food waste reminders are also posted in each dining hall to encourage students to minimize their food waste for all you care to eat facilities.

An online campus sustainability tour was developed and is being revised using GIS software, but the descriptions and photos have not been completed by the time of submission. However, a sustainability walking tour is provided by the Sustainability Office on a regular basis as part of the class presentation and outreach offerings.
