Register Your Institution

Join the more than 900 colleges and universities in 37 countries that are already using STARS to measure their sustainability performance!

To learn more about the program, see "STARS Overview" and "Why Participate?", or download the Getting Started guide.

Eligibility

Any college or university in the world may participate in STARS. Other types of secondary, post-secondary and tertiary educational institutions are also welcome. An institution is defined by having a separate and distinct administration (e.g., president or chancellor). Institutions that are part of a larger system must have an administration that is separate and distinct from others in the system to participate independently.

If your institution or organization does not meet these requirements, but you believe that you have a compelling case for participation, please email stars@aashe.org.

Registration

There is no cost to register for basic access to the STARS Reporting Tool. To register, you will need to sign up for a free AASHE user account.

Upon initiating the registration process, you will be asked to provide contact information for a STARS Liaison (the initial primary point of contact for your STARS reporting) and an Executive Contact (president, chancellor, provost, or other executive) to be copied on the registration confirmation email.

Levels of Access

There are two levels of access available. You can move between the two as the needs of your institution change.

Basic Access

Use the free basic access option that comes with registration to track progress and manage data. Basic access will also allow your institution to submit a public report and earn recognition as a STARS Reporter.

Full Access

Purchase a full access subscription to monitor your institution's score and earn a STARS Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum rating. Subscriptions may be purchased from the AASHE Portal at any time. Learn how to subscribe.

The table below outlines the cost of an initial one-year STARS subscription for AASHE members and non-members. There is a 50 percent renewal discount for all subsequent subscriptions purchased prior to or within 90 days of expiration.
