A brief description of the institution’s methodology for evaluating employee satisfaction and engagement:
Creating a Better Workplace is a university-wide, long-term commitment to valuing all York employees by improving working and professional relationships, by identifying and sharing knowledge and best practices, and by rewarding and recognizing those contributions. As part of the process, the University undertook a survey to measure and assess how we are doing in making York a better place to work. This baseline employee survey was developed by working with our unions and employee associations. The results of employee survey serve to identify areas where we need to focus to ensure that York continually improves the quality of our workplaces.

Rewards and Recognition: -Employee Rewards & Recognition expansion Leadership and Management Excellence: -Continue to offer comprehensive learning and development opportunities to enhance effective leadership and management amongst all levels of management -Enhance professional development opportunities including professional development funds Information Sharing & Communications: -Investigate, recommend and develop tools, training and templates that will support the sharing of organizational communications with York employees Mental Health Steering: -Develop an integrated mental health policy -Integrate mental health EDU (e-Learning Awareness Program) in faculty, students and staff orientations -Establish ongoing series of activities that promote mentally healthy campus -Strengthen on-campus and community partnerships
