A brief description of the event(s):
Every year, the university puts on a series of events around Earth Week and Earth Month. Last year events included events such as:
1. Film Screening and Speaker: a screening and discussion of the documentary "Bag It," to highlight the harm of plastics and chemical additives
2. Builder Battles:an eco-friendly building competition through which students built sculptures using only materials that and recyclable in NYC
3. Community Garden: student groups built a community garden and encouraged others to help them prepare it for the upcoming growing season
4. Spring Hike: students organized a hike at Harrisman State Park to experience beautiful views and enjoy the outdoors
5. Drink Responsibly: screening of the documentary Tapped, examining the effect of bottled water on health, climate change and pollution.
6. Free Fitness- free Zumba and Swimming classes were offered, as well as a free one-week membership, at Yeshiva’s Falk Recreation Center
7. Biker Appreciation Breakfast: breakfast to reward those who “green” their commute by bicycling to work
8. Themed Days- themed days such as Meatless Monday, Take the Stairs Tuesday and Why Recycle Wednesday offered the Yeshiva community easy ways to live more sustainable lives.
