A brief description of the institution’s efforts to support alternative fuel and power technology in its motorized fleet:
Yale Fleet Management is committed to ensuring that the Yale President’s Sustainability Initiatives are implemented to the extent possible in Yale’s fleet of vehicles. Yale is active in the Greater New Haven Clean Cities Coalition and is an accredited Sustainable Fleet by the NAFA Sustainable Standard in conjunction with CalStart. Yale Fleet works to ensure alternative fuel and technology vehicles are presented to the purchaser when such a vehicle or technology is available. Yale is currently upfitting 20 passenger shuttle buses with CNG, XL Hybrid, or ICOM Bi-Fuel Propane. Additionally, Yale Fleet Management is reviewing anti-idling technology for its police fleet vehicles and may begin testing a vendor in Fall 2016.
