Employee Recognition Tree Planting

A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:

Based upon years of service to the University, Yale employees are thanked and celebrated at every five-year milestone beginning at 10 years with a gift. As an alternative to receiving a gift, employees may request that a tree be planted on campus in their honor. Trees are planted by the Urban Resources Initiative through the GreenSkills program, which is a local green jobs program that employs high school students and ex-offenders. To date, 26 trees have been planted across Yale’s Central and West Campuses to recognize employees for long-term service.
