A brief description of the graduate-level degree program:
The Master of Environmental Management curriculum draws from coursework in the natural and social sciences and focuses on the complex relationships among science, management, and policy. The purpose of the program is to provide students with a scientific understanding of ecological and social systems that can be applied in a policy or management context. Students are also expected to hone their capacities as leaders and managers through summer internships, professional skills courses, and other opportunities.

A brief description of the graduate degree program (2nd program):
The Master of Environmental Science (MESc) and Master of Forest Science (MFS) programs are designed for students wishing to conduct scientific research that contributes toward basic and applied knowledge. The MFS degree is intended for those students wishing to work on forest-related topics, and the MESc degree is intended for students wishing to work on non-forest related environmental issues. These science degrees are intended to provide students a deeper disciplinary focus than the School’s management degrees, while holding to the core value of the School that students should be allowed flexibility in course selection in order to meet their educational goals. The course of study includes formalized training in the philosophy and practice of science. Training is provided through key courses in combination with extended research. The scientific research required for this degree will be conducted in close collaboration with a F&ES faculty member; therefore, students must have a commitment from a faculty research advisor upon admission to these degree programs.

A brief description of the graduate degree program (3rd program):
The Master of Forestry degree is intended for students wishing to pursue professional careers in the management and policy of forest resources, across the span of urban to rural environments. These professional opportunities can be private-sector forest management—corporate or consulting; public-sector forest management—federal, state, county, local government; stewardship and conservation of forest resources - government, private or non-profit sector; or education. The goal is to prepare students to manage forest resources for various public and private values within a complex social, political, and ecological environment.

The Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies (F&ES) offers an online education certificate program. As part of the School’s strategic goals, through the use of new technology, F&ES is devoted to improving the learning experience of on-campus students as well providing new online learning opportunities for alumni. Through the F&ES online education certificate program, alumni now have access to seminar style certificate courses which combine online resources and technology with synchronous and asynchronous personal engagement between faculty and students. The online classes exemplify Yale F&ES's enduring commitment to quality education, while offering students and alumni unique and exciting learning opportunities.
