A brief description of how sustainability is included in new employee orientation:
Sustainability is addressed in a quarterly new employee orientation by talking about our sustainable policy, goals, and how employees can get involved. We introduce our emissions goal and reduction plan. The actions taken to reach this goal such as sustainable buildings, waste policies, and campus initiatives are explained. Finally, we explain how new employees can personally contribute to the college's sustainability goals, both environmentally and socially. These trainings are conducted by Zilkha Center staff in partnership with the Human Resources Office. They were paused during COVID, but resumed as a quarterly training in Fall 2021. They are offered and strongly recommended (supervisors notified to ensure their employees can be free during the period) to all new staff hired in the last quarter.
