The Committee on Diversity and Community (CDC), formerly the Commission on Campus Race Relations (CCRR), is a non-standing committee that focuses on issues of diversity and community on campus and makes recommendations on both curricular and extracurricular matters with the intention of promoting better understanding between and among groups on campus. The Committee, comprising faculty, staff, and students, is charged with examining the health of our Williams community with respect to diversity and inclusion. In addition, the CDC discusses problems and proposes initiatives with regard to the College’s commitment to educate students for engagement with our increasingly diverse world. Over the years, the CDC has reviewed topics such as staff and faculty recruitment and retention, discrimination and sexual harassment/misconduct grievance procedures, admission and financial aid policies and practices, student orientation and advising training, and student retention and academic success. More recently, the Committee sponsored the Williams Reads project during Winter Study and hosted numerous discussion group sessions. The Committee will continue to explore the intellectual, cultural, and social experiences of the many diverse communities within the wider College community of students, faculty, and staff.
There is also the Office of Institutional Diversity and Equity at Williams College which dedicates itself to a community where all members can thrive. They work to eliminate harmful bias and discrimination, close opportunity gaps, and advance critical conversations and initiatives that promote inclusion, equity, and social justice on campus and beyond.

The Davis Center (intercultural center) does cultural competence trainings for some student groups and the Office of Institutional Diversity and Equity does trainings with some staff and faculty. The Davis Center also hires students as Community Builders to lead peer-to-peer cultural competency trainings for student groups, sports teams, residential groups etc. The trainings include a few 1 or 2 hr workshops focused on identity exploration and cultural intelligence.
