The mission of Laurier's health and safety program is to support the university’s values, vision and mission by integrating and fostering a health and safety oriented culture of leadership, responsibility, legislative accountability and environmental stewardship. A number of initiatives are currently underway to address such things as regulatory changes WSIB policy regarding Chronic Mental Stress and Traumatic Mental Stress policy, Bill 174, with respect to cannabis (policy development, governance, training and accommodation needs), and effots towards the WHMIS 2015 compliancy deadline. To tackle these challenges, Laureir has fostered a number of Community of Practice connections in 2017 to create an environment of support and information sharing with internal and external stakeholders.
