Laurier has a design guideline that specifies only native and pollinating species are planted on all campuses. Two current projects on campus highlight pollinating species specifically, including a rain garden that flows into a butterfly garden and a below ground water harvesting cistern with native and pollinating species on top - both include interpretive signs that highlight the wildlife elements. Laurier also has a green roof located on top of its student center which is vegetated with varieties of sedum that are drought tolerant and attract bees and butterflies.
