A brief description of programs, policies, infrastructure investments, outreach efforts, and/or other factors that contributed to the diversion rate:
Wilfrid Laurier University offers a number of programs to encourage a high diversion rate.
Mixed paper and cardboard recycling bins are located across campus to be used by the Laurier community and visitors.
Mixed container recycling bins are located across campus to be used by the Laurier community and visitors.
Consumers can compost their organic food waste in collection in bins in the Dining Hall and the Terrace Food Court. Kitchen staff at all food venues on campus compost organic food waste.
The Library runs a textbook drive where students, staff and faculty can drop of old books in a bin at the Library to be donated and reused through Better World Books.
Office furniture is picked up by Physical Resources to be reused in other offices or to be donated to a local store.
Physical Resources will also pick up and recycle scrap metal or wood pallets from departments on campus.
