Recycle Mania

A brief description of the campaign, including how students and/or employees were engaged:

Whitman College annually participates in recyclemania this program helps to educate students, staff, and faculty about campus diversion. During these events the campus has seen an increased waste diversion rate.


A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign:

Education through recyclemania has assisted in maintaining our average diversion rate of 44% Campaigns like this have made noticeable impacts on our waste stream.

Bon Appetite Food Waste Campaign

A brief description of the campaign, including how students and/or employees were engaged (2nd campaign):

Students and Bon Appetite have worked together looking at campus food waste. In these campaigns students weight the food waste produced within our campus dinning facilities. Food waste is then posted outside of our dinning facilities.


A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign (2nd campaign):

These campaign have shown small increases in waste diversion; however sustained waste diversion has not been observed
