Yes

Students utilized campus utility records to form the initial campus greenhouse gas inventory. This was utilized by students from the Environmental Studies program to measure and better understand how to conduct a greenhouse gas inventory.

Yes

Building operations data are utilized for student internship products and research opportunities.

Yes

We are currently install sub meters on our buildings. This data is available for students to conduct research, or to have an internship through the Office of Sustainability.

Yes

The Whitman Organic garden and Student Agriculture at Whitman have worked with Bon Appetit to provide sustainable organic food. The CCC student group works on food recovery with Bon Appetit.

Yes

As an academic internship Environmental studies students have working with the college to identify the trees around campus. They are currently putting together a campus tree inventory and map. This data allows students to examine the campuses tree information. Additional study is being conducted related to campus carbon sequestration.

Additional study has been conducted relating to vermicomposting, mycology, and low water gardens.

A student is preparing an internship proposal to address chemicals utilized by custodial. They are eager to examine the project and make recommendations.

Currently the campus is working with the Physics Department and Physics club on converting a gasoline operated vehicle into an electrical vehicle. This is project being utilized as learning opportunity for students.

As part of their academic class students have examined the waste diversion of Whitman College. In addition to this activity students examined the course of the waste stream from Whitman College and made recommendations based upon carbon miles and better facilities. This was utilized as a report for a class.

There is active Student Divestment group on campus that works with faculty and staff in order to adjust campus investment policies. As a result the campus has adopted certain investment provisions that allow campus community members to challenge morally problematic investments.
