Westminster College Energy Challenge

A brief description of the campaign, including how students and/or employees were engaged:
The Westminster College Energy Challenge is a challenge between five residence halls on campus. Each week has a different energy-saving theme and helps direct students to conserve more energy. The challenge is led by the Residence Hall Eco-Team with assistance from the Campus Sustainability Fellows and Environmental Center.

A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign:
Each year, resident halls report overall decrease in consumption during this period. In 2018, residence halls saw a 12.41% decrease in usage and 5454 kwh saved.

#WasteFreeWestminster Campaign

A brief description of the campaign, including how students and/or employees were engaged (2nd campaign):
The Environmental Center worked with Bon Appetit and the campus bookstore to design a campaign to get faculty, staff, and students to reduce waste and transition to reusable bags and cups. Bon Appetit introduced reusable bags and placed a discount on drinks for people who bring a reusable container.

A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign (2nd campaign):
Westminster was able to eliminate plastic shopping bags throughout campus as a result.
