A brief description of notable policies or programs to make the institution accessible and affordable to low-income students:

Western is working to make their institution poverty-informed. We have extensive basic need support and employees have completed a poverty informed training.

Western has funds set aside specifically to assist students in financial need. These Emergency Funding dollars are given to students for a variety of different services that would help them stay in school. A few examples are purchasing textbooks, car repairs, rent, etc.

The application fee is automatically waived if a student self reports they meet economically disadvantaged guidelines on the application. This is done as part of completing the online application.

A brief description of notable policies or programs to support non-traditional students:

The Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) office works with non-traditional students to evaluate and grant college credit for their previous work experiences.

Western's recruitment team consists of Career Coaches who focus on serving non-traditional students from the time they inquire through first term registration.
