A brief description of the sustainability-focused immersive program(s) offered by the institution:
Landscape Design, a course embedded within the Landscape Horticulture Technician program, has students working on a landscape project for Perrott State Park, Sparta Chamber of Commerce, and City of La Crosse. This project allows students to integrate the sustainable landscaping designs into the real work. Discovering how the class material is applicable in real situations.
Building Science and Energy Management students take an Energy Management Capstone course. This course is a cumulative application of the concepts of all technical skills and general knowledge obtained throughout the curriculum to a sponsored project. These projects will be either industry, community or municipality sponsored and will range from industrial, commercial or residential in nature. Students will perform complete design, analysis, specification, and commissioning of a variety of energy management systems, thermal systems, or other renewable and energy efficiency systems. A final project report will be presented to the sponsor, community forum and the advisory board.
