A brief description of the methodology used to complete the course inventory :
The Wisconsin Technical College system requires all information on courses to be submitted to a central office and cataloged in the WIDS software. Specialists in Western's Academic Excellence Division (AED) who work directly with curricular content and reporting used WIDS reports in addition to our own internal reports to collect information for AC-1. Specifically, AED specialists used data from our "Successabilities" tracking software to determine if a course included sustainability within it. Western's Successabilities are college-wide learning outcomes that every academic program incorporates within its curricula. Sustainability and Resilience are part of our Successabilities, and each program self-reports (and consults with AED specialists) on whether and how sustainability is incorporated into their unique curricula.
For this STARS report, AED specialists counted all active courses (less apprenticeship courses and courses from Learner Support and Transition) totaling 873 courses. According to available Successabilities reports, 251 have some level of sustainability associated to them.
Courses are justified based on models, units, or foci that address UN SDGs.
