Western Technical College held an event which brought both students, employees, and members of the community around sustainability efforts. As a part of Money Smart Week and Earth Week a shredding company was brought in and participants were asked to bring all of the waste paper that they have built up. This gave students and employees the opportunity to responsibly get rid of their waste paper and have it recycled properly.

During this event over 1,200 pounds of paper was shredded and recycled properly.

Western held a Tree Planting Demonstration event where the Landscape Horticulture students demonstrated how to properly plant a tree. Students, children from the nearby daycare helped plant two trees.
