A brief description of the sustainability-focused immersive program(s) offered by the institution:
1. Landscape Design II class had students working on a landscape project for Perrott State Park, Sparta Chamber of Commerce, and City of La Crosse. This project allows students to integrate the sustainable landscaping designs into the real work. Discovering how the class material is applicable in real situations. 2. A group in Team Building & Problem Solving helped Friends of the Black River clean up the river. In this project the students worked as a team in order to solve a problem. The problem was trash along the river. Students discover when working as a team significant impacts can be made. 3. Landscape Horticulture did various service work that included Tree Campus USA projects, pruning shrubs and trees, cutting sod, removing and storing sod, replanting perennials at entry sign, cleaning perennials for spring. Students learn hands on the importance of planting trees, and plant maintenance/upkeep.
