We have an Affirmative Action Officer (Director of HR) to ensure that there is no discrimination in employment, which includes outreach to prospective employees/qualified individuals in protective classes. This is only part of her position. We also have a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Internationalization committee which focuses on awareness, recruitment, and retention of underrepresented people groups. We also have a multicultural center and 2 employees associated with that.

Western has a multicultural center that hosts activities throughout the year including Diversity Week, Uncomfortable Conversations Open Forum, and cultural events (Native American Heritage Week, Black Student Alliance "Soul Food Night", etc).
