A brief description of on-site renewable electricity generating devices :
We have a 5kw PV array on the rooftop of Kelley Hall, which roughly supplies 5% of the building's electricity.

A brief description of the RECs, GOs and/or similar renewable energy products, including contract timeframes:
We have a contract to purchase RECs every year and wind power delivered through the city of Gunnison's municipal electric company. They seek out reputable third party certified providers for us to purchase the RECs and attributes from. We currently have a 3 year contract with 3Degrees Inc and the City for 5,000,000 kWh of green energy per year. Western has a renewable energy fund that students contribute to in order to purchase renewable energy for campus.

Sierra magazine requests the following information from U.S. institutions that wish to share data with that organization:
Percentage of total electricity use (0-100)
Biomass | 0 |
Coal | 50.60 |
Geothermal | 0 |
Hydro | 31.80 |
Natural gas | 2.70 |
Nuclear | 4.90 |
Solar photovoltaic | 0 |
Wind | 9.10 |
Other (please specify and explain below) | 0.90 |
A brief description of other sources of electricity not specified above:
Based on 2017 Resource Mix supplied by Gunnison City.
0.9% = landfill gas
One of our LEED buildings has a small solar PV array that generates roughly 40 kWh per day or ~ 14 MWh per year; this is not included in the #s above.
energy intensive spaces include the theater spaces and labs.
square footage determined by Facility Condition Index that is sent to State of CO every year.
Energy used for heating buildings, by source::
Percentage of total energy used to heat buildings (0-100)

Electricity | --- |
Fuel oil | --- |
Geothermal | --- |
Natural gas | 100 |
Other (please specify and explain below) | --- |
A brief description of other sources of building heating not specified above:
Passive solar is used in many buildings but I would not be able to give a specific percentage of the heat it provides.
