A brief description of when and why the workplace health and safety baseline was adopted:
The institution left the state risk management pool July 1, 2011 and acquired insurance policies independently. At that time, we began instituting workplace safety policies and cost containment procedures, which ultimately make our workplace safer for employees and our claims costs lower.

The institution has a safety policy, workplace safety rules and training for employees, a safety committee, accident analysis protocols, building safety inspections, safety awareness campaigns are conducted, designated medical providers are used for treatment, and Western has received a Cost Containment certificate from the Colorado Division of Worker's Compensation.
