Sustainability Champions
A brief description of the employee educators program (1st program):
The WKU Sustainability Champions are sustainability advocates for their departments. This group meets monthly to discuss campus sustainability indicatives and receive a brief sustainability training. Previous trainings include "Recycling on Campus - Encouraging Positive Departmental Behavior" and "Sustainable Shopping - SURPLUS!". With each training, Champions are provided with hand-outs, posters or promo items to reiterate the information and train their co-workers. The Sustainability Champions also table at staff events such as the Employee Appreciation Breakfast and Employee Appreciation Events. At these events, they typically disperse educational information and collect donations for the food pantry.
A brief description of the employee educators program’s target audience (1st program):
Sustainability Champions disperse sustainability information to the Faculty and Staff members within their department. Each champions meeting includes 10-15 individuals, each reporting back to their home Departments. This group also conducts outreach campaigns across campus.
