The WKU Green Tour as a learning tool.
A brief description of the campaign, including how students and/or employees were engaged (2nd campaign):
In late summer 2014, the Sustainability Coordinator announced that she would conduct an open-to-all campus Green Tour on the first Thursday of each month. Additionally, tours were offered for classes by request. The goal was to increase awareness among faculty about ways in which the campus can be used as a living laboratory to demonstrate best practices and engage students in practical problem solving.
A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign (2nd campaign):
From Sept to Nov 2014, the Sustainability Coordinator conducted 15 Green Tours for classes ranging from English as a Second Language to Environmental Science. Nearly every instructor included some sort of follow-up assignment or project for their students related to what they learned on the Green Tour, utilizing the campus as a living laboratory or tool for teaching.
