A brief description of the campus climate assessment(s) :
Diversity and inclusion is a shared responsibility of every member of the Western Kentucky University (WKU) campus community. The mission of the Office of Institutional Diversity and Inclusion (OIDI) is to provide resources to the campus community and the external community that promote inclusive excellence, access and social justice for all. In 2014, the WKU Student Campus Diversity Survey was developed and administered specifically to gather data relevant to the WKU campus diversity climate; attitudes with respect to fairness, inclusiveness, equality, and sensitivity; student experience with diversity; and beliefs and attitudes about diversity on campus. The survey instrument contained five sections: demographic information, campus experience, perceptions of diversity on campus including inclusion and fairness, diversity in the classroom, and perceptions about one’s academic experience.
