West Chester University is currently and has been a member of AASHE for fifteen years. WCU is a Carbon Commitment Signatory in the Climate Leadership Network managed by Second Nature. And WCU has been a member of the Post-Landfill Action Network since 2017.

WCU's Office of Sustainability participates in the Southeast PA Higher Education Sustainability Group, a collaboration of sustainability professionals at universities and colleges in the Greater Delaware Valley region of Southeast Pennsylvania and Delaware.

WCU staff and faculty were involved in two presentations at the 2017 AASHE Conference in San Antonio, Texas, four presentations at the 2018 AASHE Conference in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, one in 2019 in Spokane, Washington, one in 2020 and two in 2021 (the latter two being virtual presentations for the Global Conferences on Sustainability in Higher Education).

WCU is represented on the PASSHE Sustainable Development Task Force by Sustainability Council Chair Professor Aliza Richman and Director of the Office of Sustainability Dr. Bradley Flamm. (PASSHE is the public 14-university Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education.) As one of three of the 14 universities with dedicated sustainability-focused staff (Millersville and Slippery Rock being the other two), WCU has taken a leadership role on the Task Force and in the Campus and Operations sub-committee and is leading a group of four PASSHE universities in discussions about writing and issuing a Request for Quotations for a Renewables Power Purchase Agreement. WCU provides guidance and analytical support to the other PASSHE universities, particularly the eleven without sustainability offices.
