A brief description of the methodology the institution followed to complete the research inventory:
Prof. Barry Chernoff compiled a list of known faculty engaged in sustainability research. This list included only career-track faculty, not visitors. This list was expanded and verified by Hayley Berliner and Jennifer Kleindienst of research on public faculty pages and/or confirmation with the individual faculty members.

Total faculty number: This number includes all Wesleyan faculty (including career-track, those with long-term appointments, Professors of the Practice, and visitors) other than physical education instructors (who are classified as faculty but do not conduct research).
