The Sustainability Advisory Group for Environmental Stewardship (SAGES) brings together concerned volunteers from faculty, staff, and the student body, as well as appointed representatives from each cabinet division, to discuss and take action on sustainability issues, ideas, and projects. SAGES developed Wesleyan’s Campus Climate Action Plan in 2009 and Sustainability Action Plan in 2016.

The Sustainability Office coordinates sustainability efforts on Wesleyan's campus. Through the sustainability director, nine student interns, and fourteen Eco Facilitators, the Sustainability Office develops projects and programs that reduce energy and waste and engage the Wesleyan community, with goals of building a more sustainable campus and moving towards carbon neutrality.

- developed the Eco Facilitators program for first-year students (Eco Reps program); through this program, removed paper towels from all student residences and eliminated disposable to-go containers at one dining location
- developing first Sustainability Action Plan (sustainability strategic plan) with campus involvement
- replaced all #2 fuel oil usage with B20 bioheat for oil-heated buildings
- added sustainability criteria to the general Facilities/Physical Plant project request form
- making the annual Reunion & Commencement ceremony more sustainable through the use of reusable water bottles and waste diversion at the All-College Picnic and introduction of buffet style lunch instead of boxed lunches in 2014
- launch of Sustainability Across the Curriculum Workshop in 2016
