Joyce Topshe (AVP for Facilities) represents Wesleyan as a member of the Middletown on the Move Stakeholder Committee. Middletown on the Move is a City-managed, grant-funded project to improve health and well-being in Middletown, with special attention to brownfield rehabilitation and community engagement.
Jennifer Kleindienst (Sustainability Director) serves on Middletown's Clean Energy Task Force, which advocates for actions and policies related to energy conservation, efficiency, and renewables within the City.
Wesleyan has also been actively represented at Common Council meetings

Wesleyan is a signatory of the American Campuses Act on Climate Pledge. Through this, we pledged specifically extend our commitment through the following initiatives:
• Implement Wesleyan’s first Sustainability Action Plan, which addresses not only our carbon footprint but also the integration of sustainability into academics and all facets of campus life.
• Install a 750 kW solar PV “farm” on campus, which will supply about 20% of our annual energy usage.
• Increase the number and diversity of viable applications to the student-run Green Fund, which supports sustainability projects on campus.
