A brief description of the guidelines for franchisees:
We currently don’t have other food service franchisees directly operating on our campus but we do make an effort to bring in sustainable, natural, organic and earth friendly products to promote sustainability. Within our retail units we are constantly looking for great products that are environmentally trying to do great things. When choosing new vendors or products, wellness is a top priority as well. Wellesley is a very health conscious campus and we make an effort daily to provide students, faculty and staff with quality brands and products that we can stand behind.
On the residential side of things we stimulate local businesses by purchasing from local farmers. Ex. Natick Organic Community Farm. We create cycle menus that reflect seasonal produce so that we can buy more local through our distributors and reduce our carbon footprint. Also we provide products within residential dining units that are local, provide greater health benefits, practice sustainability efforts and/or making efforts to reduce their carbon footprint.
We also work with Srarbucks and Peets Coffee to purchase Fair Trade coffee and use compostable cups and napkins within those retail units.
