A brief description of the wildlife habitat program, policy, or practice:
The college actively protects existing areas of wildlife habitat on institution-owned land. The college owns 40 acres north of campus which is all wildlife habitat, except community gardens, and this includes a vernal pool. Large amounts of lakes and shoreline bordering Lake Waban is undeveloped and is wildlife habitat. The college’s golf course is currently seeking International Audubon Society Certification, which would increase the protection of wildlife habitat. There is also a vernal pool on the golf course. By virtue of Massachusetts Conservation Laws, we have a 100 foot buffer zone around the lake that limits disturbance among natural habitats.
