A brief description of the institution’s methodology for evaluating employee satisfaction and engagement:

Faculty & Staff Surveys: The Higher Ed Research Institute (HERI), based out of UCLA, administers its faculty survey every three years; Weber has participated consistently since 2011. The HERI survey demonstrates key areas of faculty's engagement in teaching, research, and service activities as well as levels of stress, satisfaction with the institution, and perspective for undergraduate education. Weber also administers the Great Colleges to Work For survey through Modern Think on a three-year rotation. The Great Colleges Survey largely focuses on satisfaction in leadership, communication, facilities, benefits, recognition, policies, governance, etc.

Staff Only Survey: Weber's primary methodology includes the surveys indicated above. The Staff Satisfaction Survey seeks input from staff on a variety of issues including job satisfaction, benefit satisfaction, satisfaction with opportunities for professional development and growth, satisfaction with immediate leadership, satisfaction with administration, and satisfaction with peers, policies, and governance.

A brief description of the mechanism(s) by which the institution addresses issues raised by the evaluation:

Faculty and Staff Survey Review: The results of the HERI survey are shared with the Provost's Office, where the results are reviewed and discussed. After, the results are shared in a presentation to the Faculty Senate. The Great Colleges survey results are posted to a dashboard available to all campus constituents. Positive results are celebrated and have the potential to be used in advertising for new employees. Results that align with the institution’s strategic plan are used to update strategic metrics and help determine the next steps.

Staff Survey Review: The Staff Satisfaction survey is disaggregated by division and those results – in comparison to overall results – are shared with each vice-president. VPs are asked to share with their areas to identify needed focus and review. The results are also shared with the Staff Advisory Council who then engage in conversations with their immediate VPs to develop action plans based on the feedback.
