A brief description of the student educators program (1st program):

The Environmental Ambassadors (EA) is a student-driven sustainability education and outreach program. The program seeks to create a culture of sustainability on campus by promoting sustainable social, economic, and environmental behaviors. EA members are dedicated to increasing overall student awareness of environmental actions and ways to influence positive change. Sustainability education is done through a variety of projects, activities, and collaborations. The Environmental Ambassadors work hand-in-hand with the Food Recovery Network and Garden Club, which are also run out of the Energy & Sustainability Office (WSU Sustainable Clubs). Activities organized by the Sustainable Clubs typically include the following: Green Move In/Move Out, Free Swap, Tree Plantings, Xeriscape Projects, the WSU Clear the Air Challenge, Compost Bin Workshops, Student Light Bulb Exchanges, Zero Waste Athletics, Meal-kit Building, Food Recoveries, Gardening events, and more. The three club presidents (Environmental Ambassadors, Garden Club, Food Recovery Network) are paid and trained positions. Once hired, these students go through a half-day orientation that covers volunteer recruitment and management, and peer mentoring. They are also assigned required readings on behavior change techniques, mentoring techniques, and club management tips. In addition, they are required to attend WSU's Club and Orgs monthly meetings where they receive regular training on leadership, budget management, club management, volunteer recruitment, etc.

A brief description of the student educators program’s target audience (1st program):

Student leaders from the Energy and Sustainability Office run the WSU Sustainable Clubs to train a core group of students as environmental educators and activists. The primary target audience of each of the clubs is WSU students, but faculty and staff are welcome to participate in activities as well. The efforts of the WSU Sustainable Clubs reach beyond the students and campus borders to help support a healthy and sustainable community.

The number of students enrolled for credit differs from PRE-5 because concurrent enrollment students who do not attend classes on campus were taken out of the total. (Total headcount: 29,914 - concurrent enrollment: 13,059 = students on campus: 16,855)
