A brief description of the sustainability-focused immersive program(s) offered by the institution:
Two of the Spring 2022 Alternative Breaks were centered around sustainability.
- The Environmental Conservation trip to O-ahu, Hawaii lasted for nine days. Students learned about ocean plastic pollution and participated in different beach clean-ups.
- During the Environmental Sustainability week-long trip to Fort Worth, Texas, students learned about environmental sustainability and food insecurity by serving at the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens and The Tarrant County Food Bank.

The Geography department hosts field trip courses each semester typically focused on sustainability. One offered field course includes a partnership with Community Rebuilds, a nonprofit organization focused on building sustainable and affordable homes. Students spend the semester researching the organization and related topics, attending corresponding lectures, and writing a research paper in preparation for the five-day camping trip at the researched location. The apex of the camping trip is a day or two spent volunteering at a Community Rebuilds construction site to help progress a current project and learn about the organization.
