A brief description of how sustainability is included in new employee orientation:
In 2020, Weber State University completed an update to the strategic plan. The updated plan included three key sustainability goals that are shared with all new employees during orientation: 1. WSU will achieve STARS Gold certification by the year 2025; 2. WSU will achieve its goal to be carbon neutral by the year 2040; and 3. WSU will assist the Northern Utah region in its efforts to achieve carbon neutrality by the year 2050.
In addition to sharing these goals, new employees are provided with information on how they can get involved and help WSU achieve these goals. New employees are introduced to the campus Green Department Certification Program and are encouraged to get involved, they are provided with information about sustainability-related organizations and clubs, and they are provided with reusable straws.
