Name of the sustainability-focused graduate-level degree program:
Master's Dual Degree in Engineering and Business
A brief description of the graduate-level degree program:
The Department of Energy, Environmental & Chemical Engineering (EECE) along with the Olin School of Business launched a new dual degree program - M.Eng. and MBA. The program was initiated due to the rapidly growing interest in the intersection between the Engineering and Business school approaches to the issues of sustainability, energy, the environment and corporate social responsibility. An interdisciplinary approach will be adopted to approach these issues with effective, innovative and critical thinking leading to solutions that are effective and impactful. The dual degree program capitalizes on two programs that are well positioned to help address this critical intersection.

A brief description of the graduate degree program (2nd program):
This is a coursework based Masters Program requiring 30 credits. A full-time student could complete the degree program in 12 months. Part-time students will require a longer duration. The curriculum is geared to enhance skill sets for practice in industry. Courses required for this program will provide a broader background in project management, business, leadership and entrepreneurship.

Master of Urban Design/Master of Architecture
None
A brief description of the graduate degree program (3rd program):
This dual degree program prepares architects to be cognizant of the larger urban context of architectural practice and to extend their expertise into another discipline. Students entering the MUD/MArch program complete a substantial portion of the design studios for the Master of Architecture prior to completing the Master of Urban Design studios, which are then followed by the MArch Degree Project. Other course requirements in urban design theory typically are spread out over the entire study period. The length of study is dependent upon the MArch program (3, 2+, 2, 1) in which the student is enrolled, but typically adds an additional semester and summer to the student’s curriculum.

Name of the graduate-level sustainability-focused minor, concentration or certificate:
Master of Public Health/ Urban Design Specialization
A brief description of the graduate minor, concentration or certificate:
The Urban Design specialization is offered in collaboration with Washington University’s Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts and brings interdisciplinary thinking to the multifaceted public health challenges across urban, built environments. This curriculum prepares students to understand, address and prevent the adverse health consequences and inequities associated with poorly designed urban landscapes. Students learn to address innovative, intersctional collaborations around issues of public health, food and recreation access, work sites, transportation and urban design and are prepared to meet these challenges through an evidence-based and transdiscipliary perspective.

A brief description of the graduate minor, concentration or certificate (2nd program):
Administered by the Urban Studies Program and Graduate School of Arts & Sciences. As a result of increasing urbanization (i.e., the dynamics that result from people moving into densely populated areas), worldwide projections show that increases in urban populations are occurring everywhere. World cities are growing by one million people per week, and demographers suggest that, by 2050, more than two-thirds of the planet's population will be urban dwellers. The issues that affect our densely populated cities and the people who inhabit them will be the focus of substantive research and policy debates in the 21st century. Because we seek to prepare our students to be leaders on the world stage, the in-depth study of urbanism and urbanization on both the national and international scales is critical.
